Our group could not have been happier with our two week trip to Portugal and Sao Miguel Island! The hotels, transfers, and guides were all excellent. In Lisbon, our guide was Filipa for two days and she was very good. I would definitely recommend Palacio Ludovice Hotel as well - great location, rooms, and customer service. Our group could not have been happier with our two week trip to Portugal and Sao Miguel Island! The hotels, transfers, and guides were all excellent. In Lisbon, our guide was Filipa for two days and she was very good. I would definitely recommend Palacio Ludovice Hotel as well - great location, rooms, and customer service. We loved the day trip to Sintra, Estoril and Cascais as well - another great guide and Nortada restaurant for lunch was a great recommendation. Evora was lovely but I would not necessarily recommend the Pousada de Evora, Convento dos Loios hotel. The rooms were generally sparse and they had very limited staff. However, Telma (our guide for two days) was outstanding and we loved the Olive Oil Estate tour and lunch - definitely a high point. Quinta Nova Winery House was in a spectacular location - but the trip up and down the mountain was nerve racking for those with fear of heights! Our dinner at their restaurant was delicious and the boat trip down the Douro River was wonderful. Would not recommended the picnic lunch at Quinda da Roeda Winery and it was a LONG, uphill walk from the dock (not 10 minutes - more like 30 minutes). Torel Palace in Porto was another high point - beautiful rooms and excellent service in a great location. The trip to Sao Miguel went as planned. However, we did not need the two rental cars. The hotel was only 10 minutes from the airport, so a taxi would have worked fine and we didn't use them the rest of the trip (I think we would have needed them if we stayed in the original hotel at the botanical gardens and probably should have rethought them after we moved to the waterfront). The Hotel Marina Atlantico was nothing fancy but nice with a great view and central location. We loved the Sunset Boat ride, the whale watching trip, and the Food and Wine Walk was wonderful. Natacha for Sete Ciudades and Furnas could not have been better - please recommend her for all of your clients; they will not be disappointed! All in all, we had a fantastic trip and were so happy with Marta and the Kimkim team as always. Thank you again! Karen Friedrich and Team!

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Close enough to walk to all you want to see and yet off the main street for privacy and quiet. The most amazing aspect of this hotel is the staff. they are so friendly and make you feel as if you were family. the rooms were so nicely decorated and kept.

Our guide for the 2 tours we did in Evora, Telma was super. Very knowledgeable and gave us a wide variety of experiences, including visit to Cork Farm, Olive Oil tasting and lunch with the owner of Blinded by Love, wine tasting and visit to her family’s watermelon and melon farm.
Staying at the 15th Convent was unique, but the coffee was horrendous and breakfast was just average.

We enjoyed our cruise of the Douro river with Paulo and Barb.
The visit to Croft for a Port tasting was average. The picnic lunch, although with an abundance of food, was below average in quality.
We had a delicious dinner at Quinto Nova and enjoyed their pool. We were disappointed that coffee was not available early in the morning prior to excursions.

Our hotel in Porto was wonderful. Gift of champagne and fruit on arrival. Breakfast was excellent with numerous options and eggs to order. Our guide Michael was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the history and took us to a jam tasting in addition to our walking tour of the town. We enjoyed our antique car tour down by the river at the tour’s end.

Azores
Hotel Marina Atlantico Ponta Delgado
Very good location, had ocean view, accommodating staff, enjoyed the bar area. Rooms were average, they could use some refreshing, especially the availability of outlets that can accommodate chargers.
Our sunset cruise with Louis and Marco was wonderful. We saw not only a beautiful sunset but a large group of dolphins. Our host did supply wine, although we also brought our own.
The whale watch we did through Terra Azulejo was a highlight. We saw dolphins, numerous, and a sperm whale who we actually saw do a dive.
Our food and wine tour with the Hungry Whale was fabulous. The stop at the restaurant Tasca us a must when in Ponto Delgada.
We did 2 days of tours with Natacha covering the island from end to end. She thoughtfully set up lunches for us at places that had original Portuguese food. She was also very knowledgeable and able to flex our tour to meet our requests. She did a wonderful job.

All in all our trip was a wonderful experience. The people in Portugal and Azores were open and welcoming.

This was such an amazing trip!

We really enjoyed the hotels in both Lisbon and Evora. The staff in each were friendly and accommodating.

Every tour guide was incredible. They were all willing to share about themselves and their culture, making each one truly special.

We had Gisella for the walking tour. We really connected with her, and she showed us a TON of Lisbon. She gave us tips and ideas for food and drink that we used during our free time. She was friendly, and easy to understand.

On Monday, we had Vitor for the day. He added a lot of personal details, and took us to some of his favorite spots near Setubal. He gave us a great intro to Evora as well. He was super friendly and accommodating.

Telma gave us a very informative walking tour through Évora. She really knew her stuff, and it was wonderful to learn about the area through her knowledge and experience.

Daniella on the Food Tour in Lisbon was captivating. She has such a way about her, and gave us so much more info and history about the area AND the food/drink. We wish we had more time with her. She made a small group tour seem super friendly, and encouraged connection between the other guests.

We really enjoyed getting to know Nuno on our Sintra/Cascais day trip. He was so much fun, and shared not only info about the amazing areas we were visiting, but about himself and his family. There was a great connection there as well. He was a lot of fun, and gave us great suggestions.

We spent our last night in the home of Sofia and Carlos in Lisbon. That was such a fantastic way to end this trip. They were warm, funny, and the food/drink was incredible as well. While it’s hard to pick a favorite thing for the week, getting to spend time with them in their home was something we will never forget.

Beatriz was very easy to work with through all of it, and super responsive. We always felt like we had our own, personal team working to make this trip a fantastic experience before and during the week. She planned such great things for us, we would absolutely use the service again.

We had an excellent trip to Lisbon, Coimbra, and Porto. Carmen was very helpful, professional, and easy to communicate with. If you prefer not dealing with trip planning, feel more comfortable having someone taking care of connections and logistical details, or need someone to coordinate with multiple parties, Carmen and her team will do a great job in both putting together your trip and supporting you while traveling.

Our recent trip to Portugal was amazing and exceeded our expectations! The trip started in Porto, and our hotel was nice, our city/culinary tour with Angela was great! We enjoyed the market, oldest restaurant in Porto, and all the food and knowledge that Angela shared with us. Marina really listened to what we wanted and the Portugal Boutique Hotel was a pleasure to stay in. Tony took us to Fatima on the way which we really appreciated. While in Lisbon, we had a great tour of the city, explored on our own, and were taken by Marta to the castle, stopped to look at cork trees, and finished the day at a roadside restaurant for a delicious lunch. With Marta, we felt as if we were with a friend showing us her country.
Final trip to Lagos in our rental was without incident, and we marveled at the landscape. Our final hotel was just gorgeous and we could not have been happier! Food, wine, and catamaran trip just highlighted the beautiful country of Portugal.
Final review? This trip was absolutely beyond our expectations on all levels! It checked all the boxes for us and we were sad to leave! Thank you to Marina for making it happen for us!

We had a walking tour in Lisbon and Elsa our guide was fantastic and told us some hidden gems about the city. The following day we went to Sintra with the arranged transportation and saw Peña Palace. Our tickets were pre purchased already so everything was hassle free! The parents wanted a date night so we had a cooking class arranged and we enjoyed making traditional dishes of Portugal and eating their infamous pastel de natas. The next day we headed to Algarve at Cascade resort and relaxed and saw some beautiful views. The grandparents were interested in a bike tour and explored Lagos with their wonderful guide from Volta do Mar. As well, the kids were interested in a boat ride so we enjoyed a beautiful boat tour through the grottoes.

If you are planning to go to Portugal we highly recommend using KimKim and Across Portugal — airport transportation, tours, and hotel rooms were all arranged based on preference and made travel planning seamless!

In the days leading up to our trip and during our entire trip, Catarina always remained communicative and responsive to all my questions. She was always very professional in her communications and even when we encountered one mishap with a driver one day and unfortunately missed one of our city tours (to no fault of Catarina or KimKim), Catarina didn't fail to keep in contact with us and work through the issues / process a refund for the tour we missed. Aside from this, the rest of our trip felt seamless as Catarina had given us all the information we needed to easily go about our activities each day. She also made sure we had a good amount of rest time built in, especially toward the end of the trip when we were in Albufeira, so we had a good chunk of time after all our tours in the bigger cities to just relax near the beachside before returning home.

Our food and wine tour in Porto was enjoyable, but we had a slight issue with the meeting point, which was farther than expected from our hotel. We took an Uber and got reimbursed for it. The tour itself was good, but since my parents don't drink much wine, it would have been nice to have more variety in the activities.

The drivers were punctual and polite. Whenever there was a slight language barrier it was never a problem as they used Google Translate. They were very forgiving of us with our lack of understanding of the Portuguese language.

Our travel specialist Beatriz (Bea) was incredibly dedicated and ensured that we visited the cities in Portugal that were most appealing to us. Her responsiveness was exceptional throughout the planning and booking of our customized itinerary. In addition, her colleagues were also very responsive and replied quickly to our questions during our time in Portugal.

Being able to customize the itinerary is very important to us. Our experience with kimkim has been wonderful 😊. We will use kimkim in planning and booking our future vacations.

We enjoyed the very emotional and melancholy Fado music. The musicians and singers expressed so much emotion. Noted that the singers usually had their eyes closed while performing. Their emotion was unlike anything we have seen before. The food was very delicious at this Fado restaurant.

We were incredibly impressed with the communication platform on Kim Kim. We had all the details we needed for our trip, including confirmation numbers and contact information. Not only that, but we got a personalized message through WhatsApp every evening with a detailed plan for our next day's itinerary. Everything was seamless and well organized. When there was a minor issue with transportation to the airport on our last day of travel, João responded to us within 1 minute (at 6am!) to resolve the problem and issue a refund for the transportation we had paid for. We couldn't ask for better service.

The only negative is that we only had 7 days to enjoy this beautiful trip, and will definitely need to come back to explore more of beautiful Portugal!

Guided Cultural Walking Tour in Lisbon

Gui (Guillermo) from "Your Friend in Lisbon" was an incredible tour guide. His background in Portuguese history and culture added so much value to the tour. We learned so much about the history of Portugal! He took us to all of the most important places in the city, and pointed out some really helpful tips for getting around (i.e. the hidden elevator in Baixa-Chiado). The meeting point at the Restoradoes monument was a bit confusing as there was another large group tour starting there at the same time. In the future, it might be helpful to have a sign with the name of the tour company, as it was initially challenging to find our guide.
